Have fever this this before so I'm guessing.

Assuming the Library is working OK:

Back up your catalogue before doing anything else.

Close Lightroom and relaunch with • Option + Shift (Mac) | Alt + Shift (Win) allows resetting of preferences when launching Lightroom. (Launch the app and then immediately hold down the keyboard shortcut keys.)

Now goto to Preferences > Performance and ensure the Use Graphics Processor is switched OFF

Now in the Library, select an image, bring it up to full size, choose Develop Module.

What happens?

Searcher; just launched lightroom 6 and no Library or Develop mode. Says it can't recognize any of the files I just uploaded from the CF card. Something may be going on with lightroom site? First time this has happened to me. Will wait until tomorrow and see if all is working.

Lightroom does not work from the cloud. The software is on your computer and does not require the internet on all the time.

Did you do any of the things I suggested?

A computer reboot is also in order.

I would suggest you working with Searcher on this. He always beats me to the punch, and advice is spot on.
It would also help if you would tells us what the operating system of your computer is and version of Lightroom

Searcher, it worked! I do not know how this issue started. Your advice, as usual, was spot on. Again, thank you.

One of the reasons for getting a blue screen in LR CC comes when you have LR trying to use a non existent graphics card. CC can be set up to speed things up in the Develop module by using your computers graphics accelerator card to do some of the processing. LR CC is shipped with this feature turned on sometimes. If you don't have a graphics card or it is not working then LR gives you the blue screen when you try to use the develop module. Go to Edit/Preferences/Performance and make sure the check box for "Use Graphics Processor" is unchecked.

Oops, Win 7 and newest iteration of LR CC. Cannot figure out why it occurred, there were other changes to the program as well, I just adjusted those that I could. Darn blue screen drove me nuts. Searcher's suggestion fixed ALL the issues. Thanks for your helpful respose.

One of the reasons for getting a blue screen in LR... (show quote)

I bet that was the cause of the issue. I do not recall checking a box but...? Maybe I did. Thanks for the Info.

Do you have a graphics card in your computer? I wonder if you had a glitch in that card that was fixed by the re-boot?

I've had this happen a few times to me as well. A particular photo I am working on in develop goes blue with a large X running through it. I find it generally happens if LR is running for a long time without a restart and I often get around it by toggling the edit preferences/performance use graphics processor either from on to off or if it's off back to on. and then first chance I get I restart LR and all is fine.
