Besides the (almose) fifty mm, I have a 28/95 and a 75/300 which is priceless for far-a-way shots...so therefore, highly recommend that for those shots... You can pick--up good used ones reasonable on ebay....

There are many long Canon lenses that are reasonalbly priced. (depending on how long you've been doing this your idea of "reasonably priced" may change over time ) :)

Canon has a 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lens that's not too bad.

Unfortunately I just read the reviews...yuk....this thing gets panned for IQ across the board...no wonder they go for 100.00 on ebay.

No...I mean that the 70-300III in particular wasn't a good lens specifically...it's a stinker. (I think that the III version is the bad one)

I realize that there are other canon lenses that are good.

It really depends on your budget !

A TAMRON 70-300 F 4-5.6 with IS will run you about $400 while the CANON 100-400 about $1,600
