WIFI for Canon Rebel T5

A question I have not found an answer. Is there any attachment for the subject camera that supports WIFI? I found a remote that works great and only cost a reasonable amount and would like to find the WIFI so I could use it's convenience.

Thanks in advance, Greg

When you say remote, are you talking about an App, or a remote trigger?

Capn Dave, I am looking for a way to download the pics to the PC or other device without attaching the camera or memory card to the PC, etc. I realize there are cards with built in WIFI but that would not allow me to utilize my existing cards.

Yes but not really Belkin make a $199 wireless usb hub you would connect that to your camera and then it would connect via bluetooth to your computer a few meters away. Why not just plug the camera into your usb port?

The only other options are the wireless sd cards, you do not want to use. They have access to the contents of the SDcard because they are part of the same device. All the wifi needs to work is power from the sd card slot.

In fact I'm using one now plugged into a $2 card reader which is sat in a usb slot on a surge protected socket. The Sdcard has a wifi network called camera and it acts as a wifi access point connecting to my home network.

Why isn't it in the camera? Well thats because my camera goes to sleep after a short while if I don't touch it and turns off the power to the sdcard slot! It doesn't know I'm using the card.

It still has it's uses i can read the files using a smart phone computer or tablet. I can look at or download the files on the card to these devices while having a coffee. Maybe even post them to social networking sites or even the hog. The card cost me about $30 for 8gb.

One positive is not dragging a laptop around with me or leaving it in the car while I go wandering. I am still looking for the app that downloads the image to my phone and applies a gps stamp to the exif data. I might need to write that myself.

Thats pretty much it for relatively dumb camera's. Smarter camera's with wifi built in can be operated remotely letting you set up a shot and set the focus point, maybe handy for a bird table, where you would be uncomfortably (for the birds) close to make the shot. Of course that leaves you to worry about the security of your tripod, could look like a handy perch for a bird ...

To be fair if you want that kind of connectivity you might find a smart phone app which allows your phone camera to be operated remotely and give you live view. Some phones have a pretty good camera onboard.

You might consider going to the Canon website and posing that question to the tech support group-just a thought.

Thanks for all of the responses. I was just looking for an inexpensive add on. I will check with Canon. Currently I either take out the card and plug it in to transfer the photos. Will continue doing that for the future.

Again, thanks for the responses, Greg

The T5 does not have the wi fi capability.

Hi. Try getting an mobi eye-fi card. It works for me with my SX50. I never take my card out of camera.
