Sometimes I have found it is better just let them go about their business, instead of arguing with them :)
Eventually they WILL learn ;)
no -- he's got it right. Have you ever tried backing down a boat ramp?

I knew these two guys that went and put thier boat in the water first time for the season. They backed their boat down the ramp like they REALLY knew what they were doing. One guy in the boat, one guy backing boat and trailer into the water like normal. The guy in the boat releases the cable from the boat and shoves the boat off the trailer with a great big push. The guy in the truck drives to the parking area and the other guy is out about 1000 yds out in the water yelling and flailing his arms and the other guy runs down to the water wondering what the fuss was about. He notices the boat sinking and is in a fit and swims towards the boat to assist. Yep...you guessed it. forgot to put the drain plug back in when they washed the boat out for storage.
Sometimes you just cant fix stupid.
They recovered the boat and walked away with just a wee bit more knowledge.

This isn't the first time and it won't be the last.
There is no cure for Stupid!
Tell them...HERE YOUR SIGN
This way you don't have to work at backing up the trailer! :O)
I suspect there were a couple six-packs of cheap beer involved, too.
Reminds me of the supposedly true story of the fair-haired lady who excitedly launched her brand new boat for the first time.... She backed down the ramp correctly. But once in the water she was very disappointed with how slow and unresponsive the boat was behaving and asked some nearby folks for help.
Turned out she didn't realize that you're supposed to remove the boat from the trailer. She'd left it attached... In other words, instead of floating the boat off the trailer, she'd just unhitched the trailer w/boat still attached and tried to take off that way!
Only slightly less dumb than the above!
