I just went out to hang our flag. Looked up and down the block and not another flag to be seen. Thirty five years ago their was one on ever house. I guess folks are too busy getting the buys at Wall Mart to think about our great country. - Dave

Because of the political climate, many Americans are ashamed of our flag and what it stands for. Those of us who served understand the symbolism and what our once and future great country can become with the right leadership. This is not a party discussion, we need people to vote for the people who would proudly serve this country and not any group or themselves.

I was always impressed with the patriotic display by your citizens in the way there was ALWAYS a national flag on display on private houses in your country;
alas this is a rarity in this country, unless there is a football match of some note- and then it is not the national emblem !

No they can't. That is what liberals say and they all hate America and do all they can to destroy it. It is a proven fact that the observation of the flag makes people feel more pride and have conservative positive thoughts about the US. Vs liberals and Democrats doing all they can to supreme love of country and pride in its glorious past.

Mine is on its big, aluminum flagpole, just as it is every day. There are several others on the street.

In NY state, there is no sales tax on state or national flags, either the current 50-star model or older ones. I'm always ready for an argument when I buy a new flag, but the cash register seems to know.

Just as an aside, the United states is unique in the widespread displaying of the flag, especially by private individuals. Foreign visitors are often surprised to see so many flags flying on private homes. I'm not saying this is a good or bad thing; it's just the way it is.

Where I live there are flags everywhere. I live in la-la-liberal land.
People love this country here and display flags proudly. But still not
displaying a flag says nothing about your patriotism. Stop being so
shallow on America's birthday.

Don't think so. I am a Democrat and several of my neighbors are not.
I have no idea why some people think those with different political views do not love our country. One of the reasons this county is so great is that we have the freedom to think different. - Dave

As we walked around our area, there are several flags and even some bunting displayed by several of our neighbors. Of course most of them are retired both from the military and civilian life.

I find that comment extremely ironic next to your avatar. I for one fly our flag daily. With the way things are going in this country am very tempted to fly the flag upside down as a sign of distress and protest. What I find extremely offensive and a violation of the US flag code, is the photos of gays flying US flags modified to where the stipes of the flag are replaced with rainbow colored stripes. Every part of the flag has symbolic meaning. Never understood the connection between gays and rainbows. The rainbow was created by God to be a symbol to humanity of his covenant to never again destroy the earth by flood as in noah's time. Among the flagerent sins blatantly occurring at that time was rampant homosexuality. The same sin that led to the nukeing and total destruction of Sodom, Gehhmora, and 3 other cities in ancient Israel.

So in other words, you're a flaming flag loving bigot. Thanks for pointing that out on America's Birthday...

It is not shallow. It is the truth.
I have too many friends and comrades who gave their all to trivialize that "you are patriotic" if you do not display the flag. Berate me all you wish. I do not care one bit I will stand by the truth and what I said. It is right. The flag stands for freedom and those who fought for that freedom. If you did not participate you are clueless no matter how much you read or philosophize.
