Here are a couple images of a Sandpiper I spent 2 hours with last fall. Not the easiest subjects to follow while laying in a wet field but when they are cooperative it can be worthwhile.

Solitary Sandpiper foraging for food - they eat slimy looking things
After the an hour the bird decides to check ME out.

Thank you, Bunny-Jean. Yes, thankfully it WAS a warm day. When i find a cooperative subject I tend to stay with it as long as possible, as long as I am not endangering it. At one point the bird came too close to focus on.
