Rainy Day Subjects

I was out this weekend waiting for the rain. The rain never came, but I had a couple of visitors while I was waiting. I always enjoy overcast days, as many species of nocturnal predators find more courage to emerge and hunt on those odd dark, sunless days.

I was sitting at the edge of the river observing this muskrat feeding and then resting on the shore. The mink showed up while amidst his hunting the roots at the base of the nearby roots. He was approximately 30 yards when I shot most of these images. Sorry for the lack of sharpness, but I had to boost the ISO a bit for the overcast and the images are cropped a lot. But it was fun when he chased down a rat after not being able to catch the muskrat. Hope you enjoy.
