First shot is the artsy shot and the second shot will be the actual planet shot.
Shot overlooking the Albuquerque North Valley from the North end of town.
Canon 5D Mark II ISO 640 f/2.8 1/25th second Canon 70-200mm L at 70mm Raw and converted to JPG.

Sonny, as you can see I am sending the clouds back to you so that you can add a little bit of water to them. I expect them back on Thursday with a good saturation level please.
;)

Thank you very much. I debated about where to shoot and wanted an open look so I went to the far North end of town. Not a lot here and a little bit lower light pollution.

Thanks GT. I was torn between artsy like this or try and do both in the same frame with my 8". Tired won out and I went with easy.
Maybe tonight I'll retry the single shot again with my newt.
Clouds willing etc.

Both are beautiful, Jim.
I flubbed mine. Wrong place to set up for westerly views. :-P

Thanks Sonny, but how could you flub this?
Did you at least get out of the pool long enough to look at it?
Hey. I saw that.

I set myself up with a wrong spot.
First, fronds from the palm tree were wafting about in the wind. :-(
So my "Window of Opportunity" was narrowed.
Then when I was about to start shooting, both the neighbor and the wife started calling me from the front yard. WTH?
So I left the scope and went out to see what was going on.
The view was nice from the street, but everything was out back.
By the time I got back out there....
...phufffffff... down went the target into the overgrown Cyprus's next door.
I should have gone up on the mountain...
No distractions, no trees, no idiots...

I thought the two were going to be a lot closer than they were.
I've watched the Blue Angels get much closer. :?

I agree about how close they were. The way it was built up I expected a bit less gap.
That was somewhat disappointing.

I too would've liked to have seen them closer
but it was still impressive. And most of us at least
got to get some pretty good shots.
