Does anyone have or had this lens? I want to use it with a D7100.

Yes I still own the Nikon 18 300 FF. I used to use it with my D700 and can use it with an metabones adaptor on my Sony's.
This lens stand out at a under 1k price. I would take it on my D700 all day sometimes on a bike with a tamrac small shoulder case. It is not perfect but generally really good. I would recommend as a do everything lens. Good luck.

Isn't the 28-300 the FF lens and the 18-300 the DX lens?

There are two versions of the Nikon 18-300. The older version is f/3.5-5.6 and the newer one is f/3.5-6.3. The f/3.5-5.6 is a much heavier lens and a little more expensive.

I haven't used either lens. I have the Sigma 18-300 f/3.5-6.3 OS HSM and I'm very happy with it.

Yes I have this lens and really like it as an all around lens. It replaced my Nikon 18-200 (which I loved as it was really a great copy).

The Nikon 18-300 f/3.5-63G is fast focusing, has very good IQ and is my main lens on my D7100...would heartly recommend it.

I have both the original 18-300mm -5.6 lens, and the newer 18-300mm -6.3 lens in the store. I have to admit I like the older model much better. Its a bit heavier, but also sharper at the 250-300mm end of the lens. I keep that one in the rental inventory as well, very durable and everyone who has rented it loved its images.

That's probably what I should do, is rent one until I make up my mind. We are going to Kiawah Island, SC at the end of July, and really want at least a 300mm. Lots of wildlife there.

I had the 18-300 3.5-5.6, I used it for quite awhile on my D7100 until I realized after 250mm it gets soft, which for me I didn't like.

I think I have eliminated this one. Still leaning toward the Nikon 70-300 for a couple hundred dollars cheaper, since I have the 18-200 and can change lens when needed.

What are you going to use the longer lens for? Maybe look into a 150-600.

I HAD that lens and loved it, except it is heavy, and I used it on a D7100. It was a perfect match. But I got a bout of GAS and upgraded to a D750, so I sold the lot. Still great lens and great combination.
