This is a very interesting still life. Very simple composition and lighting. The colors against the stark white background are nicely highlighted. Maybe just a third stop more light on the left side. Not even sure that would improve this interesting photo.

nothing says I love you like a moldy orange!

orange on white is interesting but another background color might appeal more to me, the shadow is just right

I would say a a deeper dof so the whole thing is in focus.

With lens I have, stopping down to increase the Dof I get defraction problems....I tried. So without stacking it's the best I could do.

The shadow is needed. It might possibly be lightened just a little so that It is enough to ground the orange, but not distract. I also think the white background puts all the emphasis on the orange. Nicely done.

The composition is wonderful, even to the shape and placement of the mold. I think the shadowing is nearly perfect, and the use of white background means that the viewer is focused entirely on the subject.

I like the stark contrast of the white background with the lemon. The lemon looks a bit orange. I would love to see this with a deeper DOF and a nice fresh lemon. This is completely subjective, but I prefer mold free shots of fruit, even if the mold is in the shape of a heart.

If this shot had a fresh lemon, it would have gotten a vote from me. I love the clean lines.

After downloading the photo and then magnifying the mold...I just had to say "WHOA!!!" It blew me away. Great focus, and it just jumped out at me. As far as the dof goes, the mold is what's really interesting, the orange is there as background. Not every pore on the orange has to be in focus. You really don't get the effect of this photo until you magnify it in download.

Ofc, it's interesting in itself just sitting there looking like a rotting orange cue ball, too.
