Thanks to the quick eye & driving of my hubby - he spotted this lil' guy sitting on top of the cross, before I did & pulled over in the church parking lot. - I only got 2 shots before he flew away.
Yes, I know - it isn't great & normally I would never put something like this on here BUT..... I'm trying to make it better & wanted y'alls views. I know the originial is terrible, lighting (it was so overcast), the Hawk is blurry but I'm just intrigued that a Sharp-shinned was sitting in town, off of a busy street, just watching all the cars go by.
Hey it's still a cool find! I like the last one the best!
Very nice revamping. Of the two that look like a rocket blasting off, I like the 2nd one best. Overall, I think the shadow one works best. Good job!
By the way, I like your avatar. I just wish it was a little bigger.
U mean they aren't big enuff? LOL :D maybe on the next avitar switching around :)
& thanks for the lovely comments on my picture. Appreciate it. By the way....so far your the only one that has said that about the cross, being a rocket. (everyone at worked thought they were cool) ;)
But love the input & how u see it!

Sorry. I am a leg man. Now on to the subject. All art is subjective. You did very well here. I like it when a photograph is actually turned into an art piece. I am not talking about overdone HDR. You basically conceptualized something in your mind and were able to reproduce it on canvas. It may or may not be the greatest but it worked. this is hard to do. I really hate it when an artist puts a painting up for viewing that is all to obvious what they were trying to say. I prefer art that is open to interpretation.
With my limited imagination, I interpreted two of the pictures as cross shaped rockets blasting off scaring the hawk away. If you would have added flames coming out of the bottom, that would have been amateurish and would have ruined any form of interpretation.
I am probably the only one who thinks of these as rockets blasting off but this is a good thing.
Thanks Tom - appreciate your insight - I still dont see the rocket thing but that's ok - since you said it's a "good thing" lol. ;)
Some of these are not too bad at all. But, I do think that this is a Red-shouldered Hawk. I really like the silhouette.

If I had to choose, I'd be stuck between,2,4+5, so 3 out of 5 "ain't bad". Very creative, 4 might win. Jen :-)
Really like what you did with 3 and 4. Nice work.
Great treatment of a 'blah' shot. The silhouette really livens it up a lot. Since you are manipulating the shot, how about having your enhanced adjustments of the hawk and the cross in silhouette.
Thanks everyone - I appreciate all the positive feedback. :D

TC - not sure what you mean? can you explain so I can try - thanks. :)
If you have a photo editing program( Photo Shop, Paint Shop Pro, etc...) that has layering available, you can remove the hawk on the silhouette as a layer, then take cross off the more detailed image and combine the 2 layers. There are many ways to achieve this and everyone has their favorite method of editing. Play and have fun, but remember to work from a copy so that the original is not corrupted.
