Here is a photo that I took in Cefalu,Sicily,Italy in Oct. 2011.What a beautiful place!

I decided to experiment with HDR using Photomatrix. I downloaded the free trial version.

What do you think?

A little harsh for my taste on the HDR. Otherwise great photo.

I agree Sarge! I am not sure how I feel about HDR. I guess it has it's place but I have not found it yet! So I guess I will just keep experimenting,

I can't seem to get away from the artist in me. I do a LOT of Italian paintings and to me Italy speaks of rich colors. So....

I DO like the color "direction" of the HDR...it's just a bit much for me...but better saturation than the original. At least for saturation and "pop" factor Lightroom can do it with ease.

Many of our members do HDR and very nicely also. Sometimes the harshness turns me off. Many turn me on and make me want to learn HDR myself.

I like the HDR one. HDR did what it's suppose to do - bring out the colors. Yup - I like it.

I'm partial to saturated colors as well. That being said, what is too saturated for one is not enough for another, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. One thing you might think about here is maybe loosening up the shadows a bit, they seem a little "dense" on my screen. And, having said that, screens can be very different and then there's the small jpeg rule here - ahhh- variables! Good shot of a beautiful place though, keep it up.

Horseart, no matter how good of an artist you are, painted spaghetti will probably taste awful. LOL
