Anyone have experience with DS-40 event printers? I'm looking to buy an event printer and I'm told this model is one of the most reliable. Can anyone verify this? I'm also told that the software to make this printer sing is darkroom.
Any comments on that....here's hoping some of you have experience with the above. Thanks in advance.
They are actually very reliable, and will print about 800 4" x 6" pics on a $100 paper/ribbon package so the cost per print is good once you buy the unit. You just need to live with the limited print size at the high printer price is all. I think its upper limit is 6" x 8" print size.
The DS-80 is the same price and will print up to 8" x 12". Might be a better choice for the greater versatility.
Love, love, love my DNP DS-40.
Got it to replace my discontinued SONY UP-DR150, since media is harder to find.
Smaller footprint and better print quality.
The matte finish option is actually nice.
Used it on 3 events so far.
It's deceptively heavy.
Get a good case for it
I have Darkroom Core software and it works great for green screen applications, though there is a bit of a learning curve. Lots of tutorials for it on the net.
Bought mine from
Imaging Spectrum.
Great technical support.
Event printer? What is that? I take my iP100 out to field trial's and print up to 8 1/2x11 on site. I also have a set up in my trailer the take my 9000MKII and print up to 13x19 on site.

The DNP DS-40 can turn out a very nice 4x6 inch print every 8 seconds.
We use it for events like dinner groups and golf tournaments.
Speed makes a huge difference- and the quality is right up there with the best.

Yep, but it does what it does very well and fast.
Not for everyone.
We did a party a few months ago and could hand out group shots before the people left the shooting area.

I amended my comment (after seeing the video) to say
Awesome!
8 sec? Wow! is that a dye-sub printer?
