Both are excellent. What shutter speed did you use?

Thank you! It was a 62 second exposure.

Some one asked me what the color version of my BW "transitions" shot looked like. I originally shot it with BW processing in mind....but....

In the color shot the "transition" from the blue sky and white clouds, to the stormy gray skies can clearly be seen.

Thoughts or opinions please?

I like the first BW. The second, I see some magenta in the water and clouds that may or may not be there that I would change. I would desaturate the blue. Very nice composition and good technique.

I definitely prefer the B&W, mostly for the reasons Linda has already stated.
Now you all have me wondering what some od my images would look like as B&W. Hmmm - I need to start experimenting!

You should experiment. I do it just for fun to see what comes of it.

I find it quite easy most of the time when deciding between BW and color... These two are IMO absolutely equal in their impact! Nicely done!

Thank you Michael...perhaps for different reasons. This is why is so interesting to me.

Hi Paul! Both are beautiful shots. But I have to go with colored one. I shot to much black and white back in the day. :):)

Hi Erv. haha...I can understand having your fill of something. :)

I am in the color camp. It gives the viewer options of what to feel. You said storm coming in, so I saw the ominous storm clouds slowly taking over the blue sky. Others mentioned the "hope" of the blue, which brought to mind the blue sky appearing as the storm retreats. Both are good interpretations depending on the mood and thoughts of the viewer.

With the B&W, I see it as an image that is about the sea and the rocks, and the storm aspect is less obvious.

Thank you for an interesting take on it! This is why I LOVE this stuff!

As has been said before, two different moods, two different photos. Both very good. Linda has stated it very well.

I love BW photography for the emotional drama. Every BW photo is a conflict. It is black fighting white for territory. In my humble opinion the BW accentuates the storm. Other opinions are also valid. BTW, any image with high contrast is a BW possibility.

they are nice I like color much better but that is personal. My one thought would be to get out of there before you get caught in it. I like the pic
