Does anyone have an idea on how to integrate a Sony Hi8 analog vidcam and a mini digital tape cam to Windows 8.1 ? I used Vista on the old computer and it worked well but had to change computers when the mother board went south. Thanks for any tips.
It depends on the output capabilities of each camera and the ports on your computer. Some digital cameras can connect directly to a USB or Firewire port and download videos using software furnished with the camera. For older movie cameras, you may need to use a hardware and software package; I don't know what you would need for Windows 8. For Windows 7 and my oldest video camera, I had to buy a Diamond Multimedia One Touch DVD Creator bundle, with hardware to connect the computer's USB port to the two audio and one video RCA type connectors on the camera. I don't know if that system is compatible with Windows 8, but I am reasonably certain that someone makes the hardware and software combo. There may even be video cameras that can download through WiFi, but I don't know that for certain.

Thank you, Sir. I ended up going to Best Buy and getting a Roxio device with software. And wow, it worked. It was an analog to digital device for video AND audio . So it turned out well. My gripe was also the newer the camera , the less the neat features that are included and the more expensive they are.Again, thanks for the comeback, I appreciate it.
