Well... I'm a bit late today... had a funeral to attend to this morning.... so here is my State Flower picture... The California Poppy...

and for Janice - a whole mountain side of wild goldenrod... and for Dane... a nice patch of Indian Paint Brush..

Pg. 16 Fellow Californian,
Nice pix of our poppies. I don't have but just a few so I will not over shadow you. Your pictures are very pretty
Or I just clicked on the wrong one.

Pg.24 My pix really isn't much but will show you. Hopefully when I am able I could go to an area where poppies are abundant. What a laugh! Those are not poppies. I couldn't tell in the thumb print pix.

Thank you JacLee.. I actually only have a couple so please post yours so we can see... as many as there are blooming around the state, would you believe I took these from a local residents yard... in lieu of grass, he has nothing but poppies from curb to front door.... its glorious.

Jaclee. Those yellow bushes are Forsythia. I have them on both sides and back or my property.

Pg. 26: No kidding? I love Forsythia and have been planning on getting one. Use to have one and (i think) a flowering quince next to each other. Very pretty together. Red on quince and yellow on Forsythia. Now just need to find a good location for them.
I bet it is glorious around your property when in bloom.

Janice, when ever you think it is getting out of reach or you need to dead head it. For pruning for the winter that would depend on where you live. We head had such a mild winter this year that mine were not pruned back until some time in February. They just kept on blooming and I just did not want them pruned but it was getting so late in the season that I had it done so I would get new growth. I have a daughter that is the rose semi-expert. Not me. When she comes to visit she works in the yard. She calls it play time.

Thank You Lassie, I had a nice surprise yesterday. Noticed one Petunia flower. I thought the plant had died this winter. They are called a "wave Petunia". Have no idea just what "wave" means, but is a fairly new type I think.
