I am just putting up some random shots from my Canon S110. If anyone can think of anything to say about them, please say it. I began shooting pictures in the days of film, discovered digital, and loved it. But only recently has it occurred to me that photos can be planned and made better. That one picture was meant as a spoof of Georgia O'keefe.

I like the abstract a great deal (wish I could see it a bit larger). Everything is well exposed. The subjects are interesting, but I wish that nice woman was positioned anywhere but dead center in the image.

First, if your knowingly putting up junk why bother and secondly before you spoof someone it would be a good idea to know something about them.

The first comment is that you should inform yourself as to the forum purposes. In this case, photo analysis is not it.

These comments are all new thoughts for me. New photos that I take will reflect what I learned, including a new perspective of "junk photos". A rusty chevvy is not a cadillac. Most of my chevvys are rusty but new ones may be less so and may include a rare cadillac, if I can recognize it. Thanks, all, for the help!

The vast majority of newbies and/or people that have never taken an art class are unaware of the "rule of thirds".
Google it, apply the new knowledge and you photography will improve today. It is one of, if not THE most fundamental rules of photography. It also applies to paintings and drawings.
Best of luck and welcome to UHH!

Everyone should back off, no one was born a professional in anything, you have to learn. Too bad some people never learn. Keep going foreward and learnng. As long as you try.

Some of us offered what we thought would improve her photographs as this is what was asked for.

Oh, good heavens! I ain't a lady. Other than that I don't have any problem with the criticism because that's what I asked for. The spoof of O'keefe was the weather-beaten philco grill among the items. No, I don't know much about her other than what I read in the bio. of Walker Evans by James Mellow. Evans knew her and they traded techniques. Evans was a great one to take photos of interesting buildings in such a way to make them more interesting. He did a great one on the Brooklyn Bridge and someone on this forum took one of a bridge that was as good as his.

Certainly, I will look up the "Rule of Thirds". In the meantime I will search for some better examples of my pictures and I am grateful for all the remarks. Steve

If you would have looked who I was replying to, you would have seen I was talking about English Wolf's comments.
I thought this was supposed to be a site where you can get contructive criticism? Not snide remarks.
Sorry for the input, I will go somewhere else to learn to get better at photo!
