I posted this in the Photo Gallery because I thought that section was better suited for this request.
I have been looking through my Sibley Field Guide & my Pocket Naturalist Guide (Birds of Cape May County) - with NO success. Hopefully, someone out there can help.
These images were shot yesterday in the marshlands of Cumberland County, NJ; but I have seen this same bird recently in Atlantic County, NJ. I was quite far away and these are the best shots I have.
Many thanks to all.
Looks like Barn Swallows.
My guess is a Purple Martin.

Just checked Sibley again and then googled "barn swallow" - you nailed it. The photos on the internet definitely match my photos. Sibley - not so much.
Thank you. Mystery solved!
Barn swallows are so pretty, and so graceful in flight. I had one pose on a picnic table for me last summer :)

I had only ever noticed one before just a couple of weeks ago at a WMA in Atlantic County. I got an image of that one - again really far away - and I thought "what a pretty, sweet little bird - wonder what it is?" Then I saw 2 more just hanging out on a branch in the marshes yesterday. Had to find out what it was. Thank heaven for UHH. There was no way I would have come up with "barn swallow". Maybe I'll get to see one in flight in the next few days as well as some better images.

Barn Swallows with a forked tail.
We have sooo many barn swallows around here building nests every where. I need to knock down a couple right over the front door. I leave them alone when they build along the barn, they only dive bomb me when I go back there to fill up the lawn mower with gas! We even get them trying to build in the garage if I leave the door open. The old timers say that you know it is time to plant corn in the spring when the barn swallows show up.
They look like barn swallows, but they are really Cliff Swallows!
