On June 19 - 21, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum hosted its Annual Classic and Antique Boat Show. These boats are all privately owned and have been restored to probably better condition than when first launched in the 1920's - 40's.

Ammati,
Thank you for looking; glad you enjoyed them. They certainly show off the wooden boat builders' crafts back in "the day", but their maintenance is a labor of love (and a deep wallet). Sixty years later, I still like them, but I'm very glad that I don't have to deal with all that bright-work :-D. Keeping a fiberglass hull looking good is labor enough!
There are a lot of those beautiful old mahogany boats on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Very classy looking boats. The newer fiberglass boats are racy looking, but they just do not have the class of the older boat designs. Great pictures. Brought back a lot of memories.

2Dragons,
Thanks for looking at my set. I'm glad you enjoyed them and they triggered the memories. To me, and I've been boating for 70+ years, wooden boats just have a class, style, beauty & ride through the water that isn't duplicated in fiberglass. That said, I'm glad I own a fiberglass boat; at my age I could never keep up with the maintenance of varnished mahogany.
We lived in Andover, MA for 32 years (up until about 7 years ago) so I am familiar with the various shows on the lake.

gwr, Thanks for looking! I still like the Utility style, but if you are looking for speed, that Hacker Craft is the one. Be aware though if you want to buy one, you best have very deep pockets, and a well filled wallet for maintenance unless you are a lot younger than I, and have lots of time to spend sanding and varnishing! :D
Great photos of some grand old boats. Used to see a lot of them in use when we lived just down the road from Lake Placid, NY. If you haven't already done so, you owe yourself a visit to the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, NY (on the St. Lawrence River). They have an onshore and in-water boat show each year that draws classic boats from all over the country.
