Uuglypher Loc: South Dakota (East River)

This is my response to a recent PM concerning several aspects of current management of the Photo Critique Section. I am posting it to the Main Photography Discussion Section, the Gallery Section, and the Post-Processing Section because it has been made clear by one of the Critique Section managers that posts about the Section ( as opposed to posts of images for critique) will not be permitted. So, I'm posting this in several sites where it is most likely to be seen by regular participants in the Photo Critique Section.


Hi, ____________, If you have not addressed an identical comment to each of the three Section managers, you ought to do so.
Probably because I am pretty open and candid about my attitudes concerning management of the Critique Section, of which I have been a strong and avid and active supporter and participant as both a poster of images for critique as well as (I hope) a thoughtful and helpful constructive critic, I have become the recipient of comments such as yours. From my perspective, positive changes in the policies and management of the Section are likely to occur only if all three managers of the Critique Section were to receive the comments of the sorts addressed to me.
I must emphasize that I am simply an active participant in the Critique Section. While I freely offer my opinions, I play absolutely no official role in the management of the Section; nor, I must clearly state, do I wish to play such a role.

I am grateful to Nightski and to Judy (country's Mama) for having originated the Section. All participants should recognize that management of the section Is exclusively their responsibility, and evidently of whomever they may decide to invite to join their team of managers.

I appreciate the trust implied in my being the recipient of PMs and emails from a number of regular Section participants either concerning management of the Section or my opinions thereupon.

I must emphasize that it is the management team of the Section that ought to be receiving the statements of heartfelt concern, criticism, and suggestions about Section management and policies. As many are aware, I am happy to discuss these topics privately, but, as I always urge privately, your concerns are likely to have considerably more effect if addressed directly to Nightski, AND. Country's Mama, AND Lighthouse. It is they who bear full and complete responsibility for the policies by which the Section operates. All compliments on the service provided by the Section, as well as all constructive criticisms concerning perceived faults, inequities, and errors in management should be directed to all three of the present managers. Without benefit of your collective opinions, they must operate in the vacuum of their own personal and mutually reinforced perspectives...be those perspectives positive and productive ... or otherwise.

I'm sure they'd be grateful if more light were let in!

But then...I could be wrong....?

Then, again, what harm could there be by giving it a try?
