Does anyone have any suggestions on how to eliminate the sticky substance from the body of my old 35mm Nikon film camera, model N80? Over time it has become that way.

isopropyl alcohol usually works.
Do not saturate, and avoid solvents which might loosen the coverings on your camera.
re-protect with a coat of carnuba wax

If the camera has some part covering with rubber, it's no good using alcohol to clean it, because alcohol with make the rubber dry and crack.

Take the lens off and drop the camera into mineral sprits. It will melt the camera and you will never have to clean it anymore. Just kidding of course. If simple things that do nt damage the camera in any way, you might want to go toa store and ask them for recommendations. They may even clean it for a small fee. You might even PM MTshooter and ask for his advice. No one knows his stuff more.

Try a product called "Goof-Off" which can be purchased at WalMart, Home Depot and even Toys-R-Us.

I've used "Goof-Off" for a lot of things, but I'd rate it a bit aggressive for a camera covering especially one with any plastic parts exposed. That stuff will dissolve the back end of a skunk!.

My N70 wasn't sticky beyond belief. I took it out of the case. After about a month it dried out becomming normal. Never use Goof Offf unlless you want to desolve the case.

I had the same problem with my N80. I just started using it and the stickiness seemed to go away. So, just use it?
