A friend of mine invited me to his place to see the Spoonbills in his yard. Sure enough, they were there-along with several other species of birds. The day was perfect!! I was by myself for about 5 hours, just taking pictures. My friend has a walkway leading out to covered dock overlooking the Everglades in a very secluded spot. I was thrilled to see the Spoonbills. But, what really, really thrilled me was the action of the Snowy Egrets. There were maybe 100 or more of them. I don't know if they were arguing over food or women, but boy were there arguments. There was so much action going on that I didn't know where to point my camera!! As it turned out, wherever I shot, I was able to catch some action. Swamp Gator stated one time that these birds spend about 60% of their time arguing and that day was proof!! I probably had the most enjoyable photography afternoon than I have ever had! When I finally downloaded my photos I was able to see some things that I didn't even realize I captured. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I did while shooting them.
You must of thought that you had died and gone to heaven.
The photo's look great, but very busy. Did you capture any closeups?? Thanks for sharing.
Great shoots. I love #3. Good job.

I did get a few single birds, but there were so many that it was just about impossible to get any action with only a pair. Even when cropped, there was no way to remove what was happening around the action. Besides I wanted to show other things-such as the other birds continuing on they merry feed and not paying attention to what was going on. I even have one photo of a fight right on top of a Spoonbill, yet the Spoonbill did not even seem to notice. And YES, I was in HEAVEN!!

Wow again. Great shots, what a day you had. It must have been unbelievable to be in the middle of that. Great detail. I wonder who the lucky female egret was.

Great shots. I love the show of breeding-phase plumage of the one on the left side of the first photo. So delicate and "frilly".
Thanks Horseart. They do look delicate but as you can see, they are tough little birds!
mollymolly! What a wonderful opportunity and splended job you did. I just keep smiling at #3 "ball-o-egrets" and #6 is just pure ballet. They are all beautiful. I also like the 'business as usual in the midst of a ruckus' in some of the shots. I really enjoy your photographs, thanks.
