Couple of shots from Saturday - More to follow.

I was at an anniversary party yesterday. I took 300 shots with perhaps 200 keepers. Working on them now.

On a side note, I just downloaded the beta for CS6. I'm loving it! Kind of mad that there is no way I'll be able to afford it. I can do most of what it can do with a combination of Aftershot Pro and X4, but it is so smooth.

The adjustment brush in the RAW Lab is wonderful--works a bit better than the adjustment layers in Aftershot Pro.

You may recognize this woman from my other post about people who expect miracles. In this case I had her back toward the yard. There were kids playing and chairs, but it was night. I used the adjustment brush in CS6 to underexpose the background.
You may recognize this woman from my other post ab...

A portrait of two good friends.

Thank you. I do listen to the advice I get.

Here is another one from the same woman taken today. Also, one of my oldest girl.

Actually took this by accident, she has no pupils but I still like it.

Not sure why she's carrying the purse in the first shot. Second one is very nice, it's too bad about the background poles. The draperies in the third and fourth don't do it for me. Sort of gives a 19th century studio shot impression that seems dated. Might work better with a wider aperture to blur them. Your daughter's a cutie. Sassy. Reminds me of my granddaughter - "bratitude."

She grabs me at parties, chooses a random location and asks for a portrait. It is up to me to make it look presentable. The purse….Who knows, I don’t know for sure if she even realized that she was holding it. I have a week to make this one presentable I may try my hand at removing it. Or perhaps crop to a head shot.

As for the background, I’m not too fond of it either. I would prefer something neutral, but I didn’t really have much of a choice here. In two weeks, they are having another event and the church youth are going to build a temporary studio space—a portrait booth. If I can, I will purchase some PVC from homedepot and make a large light tent. If not, I will at least have them replace the background.

She grabs me at parties, chooses a random location... (show quote)

You've got to watch out for those women grabbing you. I don't know if I'd bother trying to remove the purse from this shot, but you probably want to watch out for things like that when you're setting up. As for the background in #2, you do what you can with a situation. It's still a nice shot.
