The last leg of the climb to the top of The Zugspitze, a cog train took us from the town of Garmish to the first lift station of the cable car
Reminds me of the move "Sloss Agler"
Thank you !! Photog I would not be surprised if it was used in the movie
When I was there you could climb to the actual peak using a steel cable to hold on to. You had to be careful where you placed your feet.
I was there in 1956 while in the army. Stayed at the Eibsee hotel $1.25 a day for room and $1.00 a day for ski equip.

That brings back memories! The Zugspitze is where I learned to snow ski! What a blast!
All in all it is a beautiful area, I found Germany to be a beautiful place

I totally agree, truly a scenic and beautiful part of the world!
Speaking of Old Memories ! I had to dig up this old photo I took at the peak in 1953. I was stationed in Munich and my wife and I were regulars at the Eibsee Lodge during those 3 years. She is at or near the cross and yes, the last few meters was scary. She did it but I chickened out and took the photo. 50 years later she was still reminding me of that. A big brave fly-boy let his 20 year old wife "go it alone'. Come to think of it, she was 6 months pregnant at the time.
Brings back wonderful memories. I was there in '64. Makes me think I should make a return trip to Germany and Garmish.
