From a few years back, taken from the deck of a ferry from Victoria BC to the mainland. Have been sorting through some old photos on hard drive and had completely forgotten about this trip.

Late Day, Mt Rainier

I grew up in the Puget Sound area and was blessed to see this type of view if and when it was clear, which isn't often. Great place to grow up when I didn't realize there were places where it was sunny far more often than cloudy, gloomy and drizzly. Nice catch!

Beautiful reminder of a trip to Seattle,Mt Rainier and Bremerton when our son was in the Navy. We hiked one of the trails on the mountain, took a ferry ride to Bremerton's Navy base and took pictures from the Space Needle deck.

This is a beautiful photo, but I can say with a fare amount of certainty that this is Mt. Baker instead of Rainier. I even looked through Google images before making this statement to check my accuracy. The photo is gorgeous though, definitely something I would have printed.

Thanks. It is a little fuzzier than I would like, but I was pleased with result under the conditions (300mm, hand held ... luckily it was a relatively calm day on the water).

OOPS ... my apologies! Guess I had my directions mixed up. I thought ferry was heading due east and I was shooting straight off the starboard side ... which would seem to point me more towards Rainier. Looking at the ferry route map, it looks like ferry path may be more northeast, so could be Baker, and ferry also does a bit of winding around through some islands so points in a number of different directions at various times through the trip across.

Beautiful; it makes me miss Seattle where I grew up.

I'll be taking the ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria and back this summer. Sure would be great to get a few shots of Mt Baker (or Mt Ranier) as nice as yours.

You should be pleased with the result, and the slight fuzziness doesn't take away from the image at all. A nicely composed and exposed shot with moody emotional impact. Hope it's framed somewhere.

Thanks for the reply. I'm jealous ... no trips to the coast for me this year :(

Thanks Bmac. Now that you mention it, I have never actually printed and framed any of my photos ... just never seem to get around to it (life gets in the way sometimes).

And, incidentally, I'll be camping with my sister who is from Penticton, BC. We were born in Drumheller — many decades ago.
