I'm a new convert to A brand new iMac computer, my question is this, does nikon make any software that compatible with a mac??
Welcome to the real BIG Apple. You are about to see that computers and the nonsense associated with tech-support for them can be enjoyable and educational. Apple tech is almost too good to be true. Their computers are designed with the end user (us) in mind. The Microsoft nightmare seems so long ago. Have fun with it.
Thank you, David, for your very valuable input,As I"m finding that, to be exactly the case...

hi jerry, I have the brand new 2015 iMac 28 inch moniter with retina display, I bumped up the memory to 16 gigs and I have a one terabyte hard drive...
Mac can ingest most all Nikon input from their camera's. You can just download to preview to iPhoto. And then edit what you want. You will see the icon when you connect the card. You can just drag the photo's unto you desktop. Lightroom, Aperture etc. all work with Mac if you are processing raw. I had the D800 and it took my video off my Nikon right into Final Cut Pro X (file was AVCHD) You will be very happy with you Mac.
Yes, there's plenty of software. Another handy Mac app is "Raw Right Away" ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/raw-right-away/id963507809?mt=12 ) which speeds up viewing raw Nikon NEF and Canon CR2 files while in Finder. It is not an editing app, but a speedy way to review raw pics, metadata and camera settings.
All of Nikon software is available for Mac. I converted to Mac. Even Capture NX2 which is purchased. All I had to do is download the Mac version and put my serial #'s in. No extra charge. I wish Adobe would do that.

Nikon makes every thing that they have, in two flavers. One for Mac and the other for Windows.. you just go into the software and download the one that you need
Ive used both Nikon and Canon (point-and-shoots) and havent installed their software at all. For my purposes, Apples iPhoto and now Photos software works just fine for me. Works immediately without have to install anything.

The Apple nightmare came in the form of their first free OS "upgrade" and was called "Mavericks". It brought many small businesses - to say nothing of individual users - to their knees. Inasmuch as the OS is Apple proprietary and it runs on hardware that's Apple proprietary there was no excuse for such a questionable release. Boot time on my iMac (late 2009) went from 60 seconds to 2 hours with at least 2 intervening "hard" boots (holding the power key) when the process would stick. There was no practical path back to Mountain Lion.
Yosemite fixed the majority of these issues but I, and others, spent the better part of a year agonizing about going back to Windows or rolling the dice with Linux.
