Has anyone tried a teleconverter on a Nikon 105 2.8 Marco VR?
I understand Nikon's brand will not auto-focus. I'm more interested
in the Kenko, Sigma, and Tamron brands.

I have used the TC 14E II with the same lens, and it will auto-focus. It's titled "hummingbird fever" at http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-294848-1.html & "More Hummingbirds" at http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-295130-1.html , March of this year.

I have used the Sigma 1.4 with good results. My first one did stop working sometime back and I was able to replace it for under $100 from eBay. I no longer use it for macro however, if I want higher magnification for macro I find tubes or reversed lenses to be more effective.
