Nikonian suggested I post these here instead of where I did previously because of a poorly worded title and slight misunderstanding of terminology. These are wild/weed flowers I shot using my 105 during my normal walk. I already misidentified one of the plants, so I'll just post the pictures for y'all to enjoy. I just realized...43% of my pics are of the same plant...some thistle-y thing. I guess I should've had more variety.

What a lovely series, planepics! Just beautiful. I particularly like the composition of #2 and also the white daisies (?). Very, very appealing images!

Thanks. These ones are as close as hand-held macro as I can get to (I'm too wobbly). First is the close shot and the second is what it's from...both cacti, just under 6" high including the pot. A couple of them are a bit grainy for my taste, but I had to add a bit of fill light (even though I was using a hotshoe flash...perhaps I need to get a ringflash (not one of those $500 varieties, though!)

You're most of the way to a nice handheld rig. Take a look at this thread:

Start at the end because that will show what most people are currently using. Once you start using the flash as the main light, all the wobbliness will disappear because the flash duration is so short.

I was using a speedlight (I guess it's also easier to type) but I don't have a softbox. Here are two bugs I shot on my mom's lilies. Compared to a lot of people here, I STILL can't get a good bug shot!!! (It was really breezy though and things were shaking all over the place)
