Spent several hours at Longwood Gardens on Tuesday. Not terribly hot, mixed sun and clouds. One of the places I never fail to visit is the water lily pond. It is surrounded by the 4 acre indoor conservatory. Several years ago I heard one of the workers explaining to someone that a black dye is added to the water to hide the tubing etc. Will be posting more Longwood photos from the orchid room, some of the outdoor areas and any others that look interesting.

Thanks for the comment. I began going there in the early 70's when I lived in North Philly (!). If I still lived in PA I would have a membership. Alas, Boston is a long drive.

Thank you. From a photographer of your skill that is high praise.

Welcome to our neck of the woods in PA, Longwood always has some great items flowering throughout the year... Hope you enjoyed your stay.
great place to visit any time of year...you did well with the lilies.
Beautiful shots, Frjack. I especially like #3. You do a nice job of illustrating the beauty of morning in many of your images. I won't suggest it reminds me of the song 'Morning Has Broken' as I don't want to plant another ear worm. :D
Nice captures. Longwood is lovely, for sure. You might also try Grounds for Sculpture just outside of Trenton, NJ.

Thanks for the look and comment. I always enjoy the time at Longwood. I've been at Longwood all times of the year except the winter. Several classmates and I tried to go out there once for the Christmas lights etc. Over eight inches of snow cancelled that trip. One of these years. My favorite time there is the chrysanthemum festival in the late autumn.

Thanks for the comments. Longwood can be a bit of a challenge in the Philadelphia-area summer humidity. Autumn it is perfection. Spring it is lovely. Winter. Haven't done that yet.
