Question about Tamron 150-600 lens

I have the Tamron 150-600 lens for Nikon, used it for several months now. Several day ago, when I try to focus with VC on, I get several clunking type noises, like gears clunking together when shifting....I have not heard that noise before. Has any one else experienced this.....do you think I need to send it back to the repair shop?

Probably time for a trip to repair center before the problem worsens. Sounds like a failure of some sort is brewing.

I had an issue with the VC recently. The image was jumping when focusing with the VC on. Sent it to Tamron, they do a three turn around after receiving. The lens is better than new! It was less than a year old so they did a complete "return to factory standards" overhaul with no charge.

Any time any lens makes a different sound, something is wrong, or going wrong. That lens has a 6 year warranty, use it. Send it to Tamron, with a description of the problem, and ask for test and check and calibration to your specific camera model. It will be returned in about a week, and you'll be surprised at how it shoots.

Thank you for this reply.

I as well own a Tamron 150-600 (Great lens). I got it from my local camera shop = (Schiller's Camera - St. Louis) And I was the first photographer here to own one. It STILL works great on my Canon 5D MarkII And a 7D.
Sorry that the O.P. is having problems with his.
I shall keep this reply in mind when (and IF) it starts doing that "gear-grinding" sound.

:-)

By the Way = I traded in my Sigma 150-500 for it and got 400 dollars off the price of the Tamron. Schiller's IS One Great Camera Store. (Yes..... That IS a "plug" for that store.)

I sent the lens in to Tamron...got a reply. They will adjust/fix the AF, take lens completely apart, and clean it well....and all will be done on warranty. I should have it back by Tuesday of next week, at the latest.
