I think there is some sort of stuffing in his pocket to make his body look a bit fuller and maybe keep him from blowing around as much. Just a guess. Or, it may be a kidney he has violently ripped from the pizza delivery boy. Again, just a guess. Thanks for your comments Bartulius. 8-)

My twisted imagination has the scarecrow with a pocket full of seed. As the birds dip into the pocket to feed, they are sucked in and used by the scarecrow to grow a body. A giant crow's body with a clown's face.
