In my town they auctioned off a slew of barn quilts last fall. These were displayed in the store fronts all summer.
They all were painted by locals and each had a story about it. went quite high (in the hundreds) and some went as low as $15.00. also I think the look more attractive when hung "kitty corner"

I know they can be expensive. Have looked at them, but there can be a lot of work in the fabrication a nd painting.
BTW: Is "kitty corner" same as "catty corner"?

The ones that were displayed here, looked as if stencils were used and they were then spray painted. Not hand painted. You could notice it up close----kind of like a Grainy photo---Looks great from a distance, But they were still very pretty and I wish I had one on my barn.

There are many styles of painting. Most use sign board and exterior house paint to create a quilt block for a barn. The quilt pattern is taped on the boad and normally painted by hand. Some colors require several coats of paint to get a uniform look.
