Need Recommendations for Learn Lightroom Reference Book(s)

Looking for member's recommendation for a book I can use as a reference to learn Lightroom 5/6. I borrowed 'Lr 5 book for Photographers by Scott Kelby' from the local library ... which has been a great reference.

I was interested in other's suggestion for a reference book. Of course, we have Adobe Blog videos, and Google as well.

I know this is not a book but after spending some time here I don't think you'll need one.

Lightroom 6 is also called Lightroom CC. Three well regarded authors have books out already.

Kelby: http://smile.amazon.com/Photoshop-Lightroom-Digital-Photographers-Voices/dp/0133979792/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1433708185&sr=1-1&keywords=lightroom+6

I think Scott Kelby has great books on Light Room and Photoshop. Any tutorial by Julianne Kost.

Hi,

I have tried quite a few approaches and,of course, different approaches work for different people. The Kelby books seem to get you up and running very fast. For a more detailed structure you may want to look at Lynda.com to Laura Shoe. The "advanced" subscription level of Lynda.com means that you also get the lecture notes. A written record. I find the Laura Shoe videos very good on Lightroom . These sources were recommended by other Hoggers when I posted a query and they are all very good, its just what suits.

This guy's website is excellent for video LR training. I took the step by step LR course and learned more than by reading a book. I think it cost $39 and you can sign in indefinitely to continue the course in HD videos.

I like Tony Northrup's Lightroom book. Lots of videos accompany the book, so I can watch a teaching on the particular topic I'm interested in. Practical, down to earth. I'm a big fan of his.

Like you, I wanted a book, too. That being said, this is an excellent excellent series of videos...and they are free. Even though it is for LR 4, it will give you a very good understanding of how to use LR, plus it gives you choices and shows you multiple ways to do the same thing (with the author's suggestions thrown in). After going through the entire series and some videos more than once, I purchased Photoshop Lightroom CC Classroom in a Book by John Evans & Katrin Straub. I think this book would be more difficult to follow if I hadn't already gone through the video series first. I'm only about a quarter of the way through it though.

Go to Amazon.com and search for some of the authors mentioned here, like Steele, Kelby, Northrup, etc. and review the book to get a feel for the author's style. Each author has their own view on how to use LR. In the end, you'll probably take a little from each source and develop your own way.

In addition to Kelby, I also liked one by Tim Martin. I also purchased a Craftsy Class by Skott Chandler. The class can be downloaded to be viewed offline and I found it really helpful to hear and see his explanations.
