I have been invited to be a second shooter for a wedding. I have a nifty 50 and 18-55. Not sure what the number one shooter has. It is outside at a campground informal.
Any suggestions are great! I aka first timer for any wedding photography

This question always raises a lot of negative answers but don't let them deter you. You'll be OK with those lenses - you just won't be able to get distance shots. Ask the 1st shooter for directions on the shots you should be focussing on, then concentrate on fulfilling your list. After that, look for good candid shot opportunities.

What a great opportunity! I was 2nd. shooter for a wedding when film was in with my Canon AE-1. My brother being 1st. shooter.
I never saw my shots, but they ordered some of mine also.
I agree with DebAnn. Then go and get some fun shots that #1 isn't!!
Have a great time!! :)

Since your the second shooter it might be a good idea to check with the primary shooter to see what he/she wants you to use.

Thanks all, your advise will be heeded. My #1 is as clueless as me. So this will be an interesting session.

Guess I'll wear dark clothes and try to be as unobtrusive as possible.

Gonna be an fun few minutes!

Nothing wrong with what you will be shooting with. Have fun, relax and mingle with the crowd. You never know when that perfect photo will take place!

oops first fiddler has no partition either???

I can hear the chorus later on... Better call that a pass and let the maestro sink by himself.

Since it is outdoors and I assume will only take place if it isn't raining just use the 18-55. You really need to use something longer so you don't have to shove the camera in their faces.

I would rely on the first photographer and follow his directions.

Here's my two cents. This may I did my first professional wedding. After many years of being a second shooter with some wedding photographers here in Richmond. I have Seen formal and informal coming from experience the informal can be just as challenging as the formal. I do not know the client or their expectations but never do a wedding with out an itinerary from the photographer. With it being outside with what you have you will be fine. Always expect the unexpected planning is the key. I could go on but the thread would be pages long. If you would like more information you can pm me.
