It appears to be a species of Anthurium. There are over 1,00 species.
From greatbiggreenhouse.com:
"Anthuriums are members of the Aroid family (Araceae), as evidenced by the distinctive arrangement of the flowering partsa spathe-and-spadix inflorescence. Other popular aroids include caladium, calla lily, Chinese evergreen, dieffenbachia, elephant ear and peace lily (Spathiphyllum).
In anthuriums, the elongated spadix bears the many tiny flowers (Anthurium means tail flower), while the spathe, a modified leaf, serves to attract pollinators. In flowering anthuriums, those that produce showy inflorescences, the spathe may be fairly large and colorful, as in the Hawaiian Flamingo Flower. Foliage anthuriums tend to have unusual, but less showy flowers, with a plain green spathe that is much less noticeable than the long, skinny spadix. Their decorative value lies in the great variety of leaf forms, textures, and sizes (some varieties sporting leaves of up to four feet in length.)"
Thanks, Mr. B. You're my new hero of the day.
More googling led from Anthuriums and Aroid to eventually Dracunculus vulgaris aka Dragon Arum, Voodoo Lily, and Black Lily.
https://www.tumblr.com/search/dracunculusThis is definitely a voodoo lily! Thanks again! :)
Do not know the flower, but I would not get too close. It looks like it could swallow you up.
What a beautiful color, like raw meat! Does it smell? Any particular time of day (if it does)? Do flies visit it? Burying beetles? Other bugs? What a neat plant to study.

You're welcome. My pleasure. The University of Connecticut has a corpse flower. It blooms about once per 10 years or so and, believe me, it's aptly named. The stench is overwhelming!

Voodoo lilies "usually" have a rotten meat smell but mine don't. Got lucky. :)
