I watch video's of "professional" photographers saying that the DSLR is going to fade out and that mirror less is the future.
Opinions?

Some professionals (They do it for money) have already switched, but I don't see DSLR's going out of production any time soon. It's all about profit. When the camera companies see more profit from something else, the DSLR will die.

The technology is already here all they need to do is take the mirror out

Is not profit the bottom line of every manufacturer? Like anything else, DSLRs will continue to be produced as long as the demand is high enough for them to be profitable.

Profit is no doubt a part of the manufacturing process, but one has to also consider the evolution of photographic cameras. We've come a long way since the Box Brownie.

I assume there is a benefit to not having a "flipping mirror", and wouldn't it be nice to have a structure where you don't have to be concerned about "sensor dust". Maybe some day.

Right. Your wording is better than mine.

Yes but those who predict the demise of DSLR think the demand will drop for DSLR. Personally I don't know what the demand will be..

I don't think any of us can predict. My own thought (for what little that's worth) is that mirrorless is filling a useful niche, but seems a bit slow to produce the "revolution" many are predicting. This indicates to me that DSLRs aren't going away anytime soon.

Guess I'm already ahead of the curve...bwahahhahahahhaahaha

Actually I can't ever see the "DSLR" ever going away. You know there will always someone wanting to shoot them. Is mirrorless the way of the future...who knows...and if I did, I'd be rich.

Too many people have too much $$$ invested in glass for DLSRs to go away any time soon.

Which mirrorless doesn't use glass?

It would probably be a good idea to keep in mind that forecasting anything is mostly opinion and guesswork. When offered the chance to buy Volkswagen for pennies at the end of WWII Henry Ford forecast that the American public would never buy them. Then there are the weather forecasters........

not everyone see's a big advantage in mirrorless cameras. many of us are not about to abandon our dslr's over the next 20 or so years.
