I posted this on an earlier subject, but apparently the 3 or so people who responded stopped watching it and never heard the results. Anywho, I submitted these 2 B/W digital files in a digital projected club contest along with 2 color files, both of which got cut. The hippo ("River Horse") got first place and the giraffe ("Spot") got 2nd place. I was thrilled!! I seem to always do better in digital than I do in print. I have no idea why that is.

Great pics. In addition to technical quality, sometimes the animals give you help with their expressions and personality. The hippo seems deep in thought while the giraffe has a friendly but shy look. Congrats!

Thanks for looking...I only wished I had a bottle of Windex with me at the zoo to deal with all the finger/nose/forehead prints on the glass enclosures. The monkey and reptile houses were the worst! I couldn't imagine actually being in a pond with a hippo.

Congratulations. My wife and I display our ribbons we received from our photos at our craft fairs. Someone made a comment that we have some red (2nd) place ribbons. I said that the difference between 1st and 2nd in the Olympics is only 1/000 of a second. Your 2nd place was close to being a 1st prize photo. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for looking and commenting. It seems like some posters on UHH get 5, 10, 15 pages or more on every subject. I'm really lucky if I get 2 pages or responses. I've never been very popular.... The speaker/guest judge the night of the contest prints on metal and sells them at art/craft fairs. He brought a sample and it looked pretty nice. I might try it if I get a pic good enough to have done that way. I know it's quite expensive.
