I just signed up for a free 24 hours of Scott Kelby training. He gives away a certain number every day. I missed it yesterday.

I have a question about his monthly subscriptions. The cost is $24.95, "billed automatically each month." If I let that run, it would cost me $299.40 for a year. All I want right now is - maybe - a month. I'm wondering how difficult it would be to end the automatic billing after 30 days.

It's easy. There is a renewal button on the main page, and clicking it gives you a number of options including opting out.

I subscribe to Kelby training by the year for $199, and find that I use it enough to consider it a good value.

Thanks. I thought of doing that because I figure I can afford 54 cents a day. The problem is that I'm afraid I'd stop using it - for whatever reason. I'll take a look today and then see what's available for free at Adobe TV.

If you're on your free day today, I suggest Calvin Hollywood's "Photoshop Tricks for Beginners".

I have been using PS since version 2.5 back in the early 1990s and thought I knew a lot. At least half of Calvin Hollywood's course was new to me, and I wish that I had known them ten years ago.

Thanks for the tip. This is why I didn't want to pay for a year. I've had my free 24 hrs for 2 1/2 hours, and I haven't even looked at the site yet. I've been working outside.

As someone noted, I think you can just go to the site and opt out. But, another idea for you to ponder . . . .

If you join NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals, about $90.00 a year), you can get the training for $19.95 a month. I'll let you do the math on that, but you also get a great Photoshop magazine and discounts at major suppliers, such as B & H. I saved over $10.00 on my LR4 upgrade as a NAPP member.

Just an idea.

Do you think there will be a discount for the PS6 upgrade? They probably give a discount on the annual Kelby fee.

Will they give me some kind of credentials that will let me get into all sorts of places I'm not allowed?

I had some pix printed at Walmart, and they weren't going to let me have them because they thought I ripped them off from someone else. I showed them my NAPP card and that sufficed - so it did get me somewhere.

Since you guys are all old geezers, can you get an AARP discount? I won't be 55 until next Monday so that won't work for me.

Personally I would have went to lynda.com

More to choose from and better instructors.
I always try to send people there, more bang for the buck.
A little taste...

I've used lynda.com before, and it was OK, but there seemed to be too much wasted time - too much talking about irrelevant stuff. I liked the monthly because I could get what I wanted but not be committed (I've always been afraid that my wife would have me committed) to a whole year.

I'm sure I'll go back for another month sometime. That's a fantastic business plan she started. Record lessons and have people pay to watch them.
