Please tell my your experience with EF-S zooms in the 18-270mm range. Tamron or Sigma? other brand? I need that walk-around range for new T6i... already have "L" glass stuff for the 6D. I've had Canon 18-200 in the past, but want something with more reach.

Owning both a Tamron 18-270 PZD and a Canon 18-200 I can tell you the extra reach of the Tamron, while certainly noticeable, is not as significant as you might think. Second I can only comment on my copies of both lenses on my Canon 60D. The Canon is much sharper in the middle of the frame and noticeably sharper at the edges, but has much more chromatic aberration than the Tamron.and more barrel distortion. I prefer the Canon for its sharpness. There are several other superzooms to choose from. Sigma has an 18-250 and an 18-300. Tamron has a 16-300. As you probably are aware, all superzooms are a compromise optically.

You might consider the Sigma 18-300 "Contemporary" lens with the Sigma/Canon mount USB Docking station for lens focus optimization. I just bought that combination for my 7D MK II "walk-around" kit and am very happy with it.

excellent... by "contemporary" do you mean that it's a brand new version? thanks for the comment...

"Contemporary" is the name of a line of lenses Sigma offers.
They also offer an Art & Sports line.

I have a Sigma 18-300 (there's only one version). I've used several all-in-one lenses and this is the best. I had a Tamron 18-270 VC PZD and I tried a Tamron 16-300 and the Sigma is sharper than either of them especially at 300 mm.

I'm using mine on Nikons, but the lens is the same and the relative performance should be pretty much the same.

I recently bought a Sigma 18-300 to go with my Nikon 7100. This lens has acceptable (considering the walkability) reach, is fairly sharp and reasonably priced. I think a good combination.
