I have about three rolls of Ektachrome Slide film. They are dated 1977. They have been in the freezer since then. I would like to shoot them off just to see what would come out. What are your predictions?

My prediction: Color will be off but you will get a recognizable image.

As long as you can still get it processed, go for it.

Shoot them and have fun. Just make sure the film is well thawed befor loading it. Ektachrome is brittle when cold. I have broken a couple rolls in mid roll while shooting it in the wintertime here.

I recently shot Ektachrome of the same vintage. It came out fine. Warm it up slowly. Process E-6. I have a guy who did not even blink when I handed him several rolls of 127 E-6 Ektachrome. He ran it 'Dip and Dunk' with his 120 film and it came out great. I have a dozen more rolls. My local guy charges $4.40 a roll, uncut, in sleeves. I scan and print.

I prefer Velvia 50.

container of rice, place film someplace near middle.
this will thaw, and the rice will remove any possible condensation.

Love my velvia....... I shoot it in my Pentax 645n as well
did shoot underwater with Velvia 50 beautiful shots.

enjoy

Along the same lines...
A friend who has become disabled wants me to try to sell some of his stuff.
I found 2 Polaroid 600 packs, 12 rolls of Kodak all different for slides and reversal, and one roll of Anscochrome. ALL are outdated, from 1961 through 1999. Do they have ANY value at all? Should I just trash them? Are there collectors of such stuff?
I also found 4 rolls that have been exposed (again, all Kodak for prints, and a single exposed Kodacolor HR disc.
Same questions, or if I should try to get them developed what are the expectations?

I wouldn't recommend you to use them (except the Polaroid as you really don't have anything to lose) but I think you can get some money out of them. There are people who like to buy old film. For me unused old film is not worth using because the saving from not having to buy them isn't that significant compared to the cost to process them. Chances are there will be pictures coming from them but can't be very good. Why pay to process something you know that is not very good. Of course if the film has been exposed by all mean have them developed.
