Thanks so much, Corolyn. Our gardenias are history now. The blooms just don't last long enough... :-(

Absolutely Stunning Donna!!! At first I liked the first one. It was the beautiful shine. But then I did the download on the Gardenia.
WOW! so soft and beautiful. I love the soft purple shadows and the glow of the petals.

I promise to do just that, Angela. :-D Just came in from outside looking at my Sharon blooms and thought of you. I'll try to get a few shots to post. By the way, Vic thinks the proper way to pronounce is 'Rose of Sha-RONE'. giggle giggle giggle

Yes but at least you can grow them there. They can't stand the cold up here. Mother had one that she planted up close to the house with an overhang and protected from the wind. But one especially cold winter, it didn't make it. It was next to the back steps and the smell as you descended was heavenly.

Ours grew and were covered with blooms until the past two winters when they lost their leaves from the freezes. They've hardly bloomed since, and one even died. The variety we have is August Beauty, but there's one variety that's supposed to be very cold hardy, Corolyn. Don't know what it is, but if we keep having colder than normal winters, we're going to have to plant another kind.

Try covering them with old sheets or making a cloche of plastic for the colder days. Papa used to do that for some of Mom's more tender plants.

We did, but they had gotten too large to cover. The covers did help though where they stayed on the plants.
