Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can have a Website created for my photo and art images that is both affordable and functional?
(IE: Having leads in many places on the Internet, easy to add or change images/information, creative, etc..)
I am a college student with no income at the moment, so my funds to have the site created, (and more importantly, to maintain,) are limited.
Thanks..

There are a lot of free places to start a website...Google is your friend. As a college student you oughta know this already.

Thanks...
(But if I knew this already, I wouldn't be a college student!)
On a serious note, I know that there are a LOT of free places on the Internet, and therein lies the problem!
I need to try and filter them down, so I don't have to search tons of sites trying to find what I want.
(Note: It need not necessarily be FREE, just NOT a "commercial grade" site..)

I use Zenfolio. I pay $140 a year, but they offer other price ranges. I believe there might even be a free one. My site is
http://www.WendyPickardPhotography.com

If you decide to purchase a website from Zenfolio, this code might get you a discount and it gives me a credit toward my next renewal. D62-2K6-RVV

Good luck and let me know what you think.

I use smugmug...click on my user name to find my website. Like Wendy2, if you use my site as a reference you (and I) will get 20% off our next years service.

There are several different levels (I'm a power user $60, when I don't get referrals)...only because I like to customize and wanted to be able to upload larger high def videos...but their base level is quite nice. I think there is a 30 day trial.

I'll say this . . . to create a web site, that you'll be proud of, to showcase your work is not cheap. Unless you're technically inclined, you'll need someone to maintain it for you. It's far better using one of the 'prepared' sites that are suggested in other posts here. (i.e.SmugMug, etc.) I personally like 500px.com, but there's also DeviantArt and a host of others.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share the site you use with me. As you probably know, there are many sites out there; and after looking at a few other suggested sites, I feel that there are ones out there that offer much more than the one you are using, and (some) at a better price.
So I will not be pursuing Zenfolio.
Thanks again.

Thank you for sharing. This seems to be a GREAT site and MIGHT be what I'm looking for. I will do some further research, (and check out the other suggestions,) and if I go with Smugmug, I will let you know.
Thanks so much again.

Yes, I agree with what you say regarding doing a site yourself.
I have heard of both sites you mentioned, but never checked them out. I will do at this time.
Thanks again.

Cool. I will say that the smugmug heros (their IT help guys) are very prompt to answer questions. There is also a smugmug forum for asking all sorts of website questions. I've been using them since 2007 with zero hiccups. I think I've got about 60k photos on the site now.

I use Microsoft Expression Web 4, which if you do a Google search, you will find it is now available as a FREE download. Microsoft describe this package as follows:

"Expression Web is a full-featured professional tool for designing, developing, and publishing compelling, feature-rich websites that conform to web standards."

My site can be seen here:

I have used Expression Web for many years and have found it to be very satisfactory for my hobby website.

Cheers
Rob

Just an informational/display site, or E-commerce?

Take a look at jalbum.net . The software is easy, just drag and drop. They have a lot of free templates, which they refer to as "skins". You can chose an annual or perpetual license. The annual license with hosting is very reasonable at $20/year
