Push test

As I have mentioned recently, I purchased a 28-300 vr lens. I have been experimenting with pushing the ISO of the D90 I have been using. Here are a few shots taken at ISO 800 with the zoo at 300mm. I have included an image of the original shot so you could see how much I cropped as well.

The overall image was fairly grainy, but sharp. I am suprised at the image quality due to the cropping and ISO push. I didn't think I would be able to get this good of an image. I was going to go for one of the 300mm 2.8 lenses, but I think the new D800 may give me the results with the lenses I now have by being able to deal with the pushing of the ISO and low noise. The existing lens appears to have the sharpness.

I am looking forward to purchasing the D800 at some point, but small businesses are taking the hit in this economy and ours is no exception, so I have postponed the purchase for the time being.

Awesome Bozsik,
I was doing some of the same, trying to see the limits of my D7000, and still make the shots worthy.

What are those little guys? I have a whole herd of them now that most of the psychotic goldfinches have moved on.

They are the European (or House) sparrows. They were introduced into the states a long time ago. They are not really a sparrow, but a specie of weaver finch. Weaver finches are very prominent in Africa. These liitle guys are very common around places with human habitation. If you get away, and are in a more natural ecosystem, you won't see them. They have built a co-existence with humans much like the Norway rat and the House mouse that you find around humans.

This one shows up every morning, rain or shine, and spends the day in the sunflower shaped feeder, just like this. As it begins to get dusky, s/he goes home, and shows right back up the next morning! It just sits there watching the world go by LOL.

Can't be sure, but it looks like the winter intergrade plumage of the Chipping Sparrow, not the House sparrow. Kind of hard to tell at this angle.

He does seem to be very content with the accommodation you have provided, though.
