I am new to using vintage lens on my Sony a6000 camera. Is there a way after the fact to view lens settings when using vintage glass? The only information readily displayed in PS is the camera speed and ISO. (I would guess not since the aperture is set on the lens and not by the camera). Thanks for the help.

You can only view the ring on the lens itself for aperture while you shoot. No electronic connector to tell the camera to stamp the data for the aperture.

Yup that's what I thought. Thanks for confirming that.

Even more than that, there is no 'actual used' aperture data to be transmitted since there is nothing to detect it.
I have some vintage glass - my preferred term also - on my Canon, and they have chips that communicate the focal length (for primes or one value for a zoom) and the max aperture (such as f/1.2), but it is not possible to create something out of nothing unless one has super human powers!
Enjoy your older lenses!

My husband had an old Pentax Super Takumar 28mm f 3.5 lens that he hardly used- looks like new. It is sharp with nice color and contrast.
Then I bought a Pentax Super Takumar 50mm f 1.4 lens that is wonderful- images are very sharp and have almost a 3 dimensionality to them. Both lenses are small so they fit the Sony a6000 well. It cost 60.00.
Now I have the bug and am looking for a Russian lens and maybe a couple of other ones. I found a web site (forum actually) where people list their favorite vintage lenses so that has been helpful in knowing what to look for.
I love the small sizes, the look and the prices.

A Russian lens? My first SLR was a Zenit E with a 58mm f/2 Helios lens. I still have it.

You know you have to post your images here don't you?
If you start a thread about using vintage glass on a Sony E mount camera, you have to post your pictures.

I know :) I have not posted any images on the forum- I do have some of the first photos taken with the Pentax 50 mm f 1.4 lens from a couple of days ago. I could post a couple of the JPEGs right from the camera - I haven't worked the RAWs yet. Ok later on today :)

There really is no hurry! We can wait, but please let us know when you do!
Here's one from an FL 55mm f/1.2 on my T3i... The lens is around half the age of the subject, Melissa, my mother-in-law and my favorite party animal!
Of course, she hates the picture because she's still thirty something and doesn't recognize that aging gracefully is a wonderful thing and that she is still "The Perfect Babe" in all the ways that really matter. It was only three years ago she finished swinging off scaffolding repainting her three story house.
People have told me that I sure married well. I tend to agree!
