Canon 6d & Vello freeware remote

Ordered the Vello from B&H yesterday, got it today. Can't beat the fast shipping. In B&H's description, it included the 6D as compatible. However, the owners manual shows every Canon dslr model except the 6D. And, as I discovered, the cable that connects the receiver to the camera does not fit. The 6D connection port is round with 3 male pins arranged in a triangle pattern, while the Vello end is a square solid plug. I have never been good at putting a square plug in a round hole

You may be wondering why I am not contacting B&H on this. Well, they have shut down live chat & email service until Tuesday. So, to feed my curiosity in the meantime ,I am asking on this forum if there is a simple solution such as a special cable for the 6D.

This dashed my hopes for some Hummingbird pics this weekend. :-(

Dumb me. The square plug does fit. Didn't see the tiny 3 holes on the end.

So, as you were, ladies & gentlemen :)

Canon uses a 3-pin design for their higher priced camera bodies. Depending on which Vello remote you have, you may need to exchange it for a model with the correct plug or if it has a separate cable- you can order the correct cable. I have both types of cables for my remote. The 2.5mm mini connector cable works on my SX60 and the 3-pin connector cable works on my 5D and 7D models. Call them when they open and they'll be able to take care of you.

Yep, don't feel like the Lone Ranger. Do that kinda stuff more and more these days. Good luck with your hummers.

I had the same remote for my T2i and when I got my 6D cable did not fit. A little research and I got a cable that works fine. In fact I am using it today at a studio shoot. If you have smart phone you can down load the canon app that will control you 6D and have more functions than just shutter release.

Thanks Rak. I suppose a smart phone is in my future after all. :)

hey don't rush into anything. The only reason I got the damn thing was it enabled me to deposit checks remotely. Saved me trips to the bank.
