Nikon has to spread out its production. They have a lot of dealers to keep happy.

Going to have a problem in getting a screw in lens hood for the P900. Nikon USA has no info on when or if one will be made. :hunf:

He may have better luck by calling every smaller Nikon authorized camera store that he can find. They may have one in stock.

The camera proved as popular as the Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens. The entire pre-release inventory sold out in days. Mine were gone almost as soon as they came in.it's a groundbreaking camera and we'll worth it's $600 price tag!

Late last week I tried B&H, Amazon, and six local brick-and-mortar stores, and they were all back ordered. I then tried Nikon; they were back ordered! Figuring Nikon would be my best bet, I finally placed an order with them. Last night I received an email, telling me my P900 has shipped and will arrive on the 27th. It will have been 13 days. WesIam, notice where I live. I tried all the shops in our area and in northern DE.

I know of at least 3 dealers locally who are battling to get replacement stocks - after selling their first arrivals very quickly.

I recently bought from Adorama for my granddaughter, a refurbished P600 at very attractive price 0f $200. How does the P600 compare to the P900?

Here is a decent actual feature comparison. Pay no attention to the "score" as they did not know many of the P900 specs yet so they score it "0" if they don't have the info.

Suffice it to say the P900 is a MAJOR step up from the P600

With all due respect MT, it is stretching to say MAJOR.
f/2.8-5.6 vs f/3.3-6.5., zoom: 60 vs 83. P600 is lighter and smaller. Similar noise specs. Not much else that i can determine. What am I missing?

Once you have had your hands on a P900 you will see, it sports much higher build quality. I consider it a serious threat to the D3300, mostly because of that lens package. 2000mm equivalent that can be easily hand held, a wonderful option!
