Canon pro 100 printer question

I love my new printer and the print quality is very close to what I see on my IMac. My question is I am printing on 8.5x 11 photo paper but my photos are printing in different sizes. Some are 8'5 x 4.5 or 8.5x 6! My setting is 8x10 but so far none of my photos have printed that size! So what am I doing wrong? Do I need to have a different setting?

Are your photos 'squished' to those dimensions?

Have you cropped the photos to those dimensions in post processing?

In general, you need to tell your PP program and your printer the 'page' size that you're using - that's the size of the sheet of paper . . . and you need to specify the size of the image to be placed onto that page. Re-check your settings and confirm that you've done this. I don't know the step by step process for your PP program & printer, though.

Could you have a 'format' mis-match? That is, could you be telling your printer to print a 'landscape' format image on a 'portrait' format page?

On the right as you look as your computer about 2/3's down there are sliders that tell you the sizes you will print. Unless these sliders are the same as the the print size you have selected, it will print the size selected in the right.

I have this same difficulty with my 100. Didn't occur with my other printers, so this will be interesting.

One question: Are you printing from Windows or from a program like PS or LR?

there are about three things you have to do.
1. check your image size and set to 8x10
2. In your printer set up..be sure you show the size of paper and which direction you want the print to be.
3. Look at your preview before you print.
4. I don't use my pro 100 for small prints... the ink cost is to high. i use my canon 8220 for 8x10 and smaller.

I am printing from LR on canon settings on my IMac. I have the size set to 8x10 and am printing on paper that is 11x14. I have noticed that if I don't crop the image comes out correct, but on a cropped pic the image is in a different size, so I'm guessing that it may have to do with settings I need to check on a cropped image. By the way the pic comes out really beautiful and as seen on my iMac, so the printer prints well. Happy Memorial Day and thank you all for your answers.

you have to check the size of your cropped image. You may have a 4x6 thinking the printer knows that you want an 8x10.
Why do you print on 11x14 paper?

Thats the paper I have! And I like a border around the pic if I could get it to print an actual 8x10. I also mat the photos and give them to friends. But since the pics are printing small I could go to a smaller size pic or fix the size in the canon format to print an actual 8x10.I'm new to printing,so I thought asking here would give me some tips.

I'm using a PIXMA Pro 1000 MK II but I think it uses pretty much the same software.

First Canon printers don't like 11x 14 papers, note that the size is not in their list of papers so you have to work around that. Use Custom for your Paper size and somewhere in the process, probably just before the print command, it should ask you for the paper & print sizes.

What PP are you using? Is the print software set to follow the PP print instructions or is it defaulting to the printer's built in software?

An 8 x 10 print on a 8 1/2 X 11 paper will give you a border if you tell it to center the print. I believe the default position is the lower left corner.

Good Luck!
