Yep, I checked it out. It's all true. With the way they keep enacting what you can and can not do, and what and how much you can eat or drink, what you can and can not say, I'd say they are still into wanting s***ery. They just don't care who they ens***e are anymore.
Hove no problem with the first several panels of the strip.
The parties reversed themselves in the '60s, and the democrats became the party of civil rights and the republicans took their place as the white party, mostly in the South.
Since this change is some 50 years old, it seems the last two panels overstate the case.

Well, we do have laws, and they tell you what you can do, and what you can't.
Got to have laws, right?
Now, the democrats favor certain laws, and the republicans favor certain laws, and we fight over differing views, but we have a process--balance and coulnter balance--to effect some moderation. We all have to live with the result.
As to 'how much you can eat and drink,' remember that obesity and premature death cost money--your money and mine. I think a government should look after the health of it's citizens, don't you?
And there are laws about what you can say, and what you can't;
Do you want to be able to stand in a r**t and shout "Let"s K**l the N****r. Let's String Him Up!" and not be held responsible?
Maybe, in that same r**t you might feel it unfair if the man concerned was holding onto you, and shouting "Let's K**l the Honky! Let's String Him Up!"
Some speech is nasty and people are responsible for what they say.
That's a good thing.
