You will have a better chance of getting a good shot of McKinley from Denali State Park south of Denali National Park. It is often visible from the south side.

One other note: be very careful using mosquito repellent with Deet. It can turn plastic camera parts to mush. Spray is better so you can keep it off your palms.

WOW!!! I never dreamed I would get so much information. Thanks to everyone. Many ask what kind of camera...I have a canon 60D and Rebel XTi. The lenses I'll take are canon 18-135mm, 70-250mm and 10-20mm. Wish I had a longer one but I guess that's where photoshop comes in!

All the pictures posted are beautiful. Hoping for at least an hour of cloud break to see the mountain but, if not, I'm sure we will be in awe of all the beauty!

I have taken many notes that will make our trip even more enjoyable. I will post a few pictures upon our return. Thanks to everyone.

A light weight bridge camera might be nice to have along. I just learned that Canon is selling refurbished SX50HS bridge camera for $179. It has the same 1 year warranty as a new one.

I just ordered one for myself and one for my son. This camera has been a hit among many on UHH and they have posted impressive pictures. Sure it isn't a DSLR but is sure easier to carry and has a surprisingly good extremely long lens and a lot of great features. The web site for ordering is:
http://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/powershot-sx50-hs-refurbished

I'd still recommending sticking with the DSLR when you can, but this would be handy to have for those otherwise impossible shots.

A visit to the town of Talkeetna is a must as is a telephoto lens and a flight over DNP with a landing (ski plane) on Ruth glacier. A wonderful experience.

I had just gotten into the digital world and then only had an Olympus with a 10 x zoom (at the time the longest) My buddy had a camera with a 50 & 7o-300. It never failed that it would be raining when he need the longer one. I agree a bridge camera is a must.
