After a conversation with DOOK, I decided to try his suggestions and shoot to create a better DOF with complete subject in focus. Same set up as usual except that I set camera on Aperture priority, raised the ISO to 3200 and set the camera to F/20 and anywhere from 1/60 to 1/80 second. I still can hand hold comfortable at those shutter speeds. I have to agree with DOOK these settings make for an overall more pleasing picture. Please try the downloads.

Very nice, Jim. Love the colorful spider. Well, not love--it's a spider, for gosh sakes! But I like the shot a lot.

Thanks Randy, you would not believe how really small that spider is, I could barely see it without the camera lens. Thanks my friend for the visit and nice comments. Much appreciated as always.

Very nice set Jim, like the blue dragon very much. I was always told on my treks in far off places be aware of spiders with red on them....they are dangerous! :-)

Thanks so much Sylvia and I agree with you as that is the way I've learned it also. Red seems to be a nature warning sign. Thanks again for your visit and nice comments. :-D :-D

Thank you Donna and I must say it's a good thing there is lot to photograph in walking distance as it's getting hotter & hotter. It's 5 pm and and 85 degrees, so long treks are out of the question till much later in the year. Thanks again for your visit and nice comments. Always appreciated my friend. :-D :-D :-D

This is a definite improvement, Jim. Well done. Just a thought---don't be frightened to experiment--why not try different apertures from f11 to f20 & see what works best for you. For example, f11 or f14 will allow a faster shutter than f20, but still have a fairly good dof. The faster shutter, of course, increases the odds of getting a sharp result. JMO.

Cheers Earl, I really did just that and just posted those three of several that I took. As I mentioned to you before, I'm having to relearn stuff I already learned 30 to 40 years ago coupled with the nuances of the digital science. This has really been a great experiment and learning or relearning experience. for me. Thanks again my friend. :-D :-D
